Arrow-Tip #5 Use the Right Anti-Virus Software
Raise your hand if you have ever uttered 4 letter words in conjunction with your anti-virus software. Has Outlook ever asked you if you wanted to disable one of these programs becuase it caused errors the last time Outlook was shut down? Or have you ever noticed that a third party add-in like Plaxo, LinkedIn or say HuntressPro didn’t seem to get along with one of these programs? If you answered “yes”, “maybe” or , “I’m not sure” to any of these questions, keep reading.
We all know that Outlook is not always the friendliest of applications and there are certainly some complimentary products that work better with it than others. I met a wonderful gentleman named Johnny Duningan last Friday that pointed me toward two anti-virus products that work especially well with Microsoft Outlook called NOD32 and Kaspersky. Many of you often ask me what products I recommend for virus protection and I have to admit that other than knowing certain anti-virus softwares can interfere with 3rd party add-ins, this is really not my area. Johnny on the other hand is well versed in this area so I highly recommend you take a look at either of these products if you are having issues with your current anti-virus software.
Keep in mind that you may be having problems that don’t appear to be related to your anti-virus software – like one of the aforementioned add-ins not functioning or loading properly. Before you get too mad at the add-in software techies, try taking a look at your anti-virus software and make sure it really is the best product to work with Microsoft Outlook.
